As Memorial Day weekend approaches, the unfortunate reality is that many operators simply can not reopen their swimming pools to the public as we battle the COVID-19 outbreak. We have had many questions from customers regarding the best shutdown procedures to follow for pools with our PVC Membrane installed.
Draining your pool for an extended period won’t hurt your RenoSys PVC Pool Membrane liner system.
Your RenoSys PVC membrane liner system is fabricated in such a way that it can withstand the elements all year long. It is not necessary to keep the recirculation system running or the water treated. Basically, you can keep your pool shut down as you would during the off-season. However, there is a word of caution: groundwater could come through the pool shell and may compromise the membrane system. This risk depends on the specific conditions at your facility. You would need to consider this possibility should you decide to keep the pool drained for an extended period of time.
Just remember that the longer your pool sits empty, the harder it will be to make it shiny again. When the time to reopen comes, refer to your care guide or have a look at our Tips For Your New PVC Membrane article.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any additional questions or if you feel conditions at your facility might require special recommendations.
