MetroWest YMCA Pool Renovation – Massachusetts
Category: Community Pool Renovation
Completion Date: 06/10/2024
Profile:
A YMCA pool in Massachusetts recently underwent a comprehensive renovation focused on installing a new PVC membrane across the interior surface. The pool features a distinctive Z shaped layout, which added complexity to the renovation. The RenoSys team installed the membrane across 6,114 square feet and terminated it below the coping using hot air welding to PVC flat stock in the waterline tile area.
Despite facing weather related delays that included seven days of rain, the installation was completed successfully. The customer was eager to reopen the facility and began filling the pool with water as the crew finished the final steps of the project.
Problems:
The primary challenge was weather. With roughly seven days of rain throughout the project, the team had to carefully schedule installation tasks that required dry conditions. This required a flexible approach and precise timing to keep the project moving while maintaining quality.
The pool’s unique Z shaped configuration also introduced design and installation challenges. Custom detailing was required to ensure the membrane fit properly around the various angles and transitions throughout the pool. Precise installation was essential to preserve watertight integrity and functionality.
Close coordination with the customer was also necessary, particularly regarding the removal and patching of the waterline tile. Terminating the PVC membrane below the coping required careful preparation and accuracy to achieve a clean and watertight finish. The team’s ability to manage these logistical and technical challenges was key to the project’s success.
